Introduction to ATP Canadian Open Men's Singles 2025 Betting
The Canadian Open is the second-longest-running tournament in tennis. It sits behind Wimbledon, which is the longest-serving and most prestigious tournament in history. Some of the biggest stars in the game will grace the stage in Toronto when the tournament gets underway, and Jannik Sinner, number 1 in the ATP rankings, will be the pre-tournament favourite after claiming his first-ever Wimbledon title in a year whee he has already won two of the three Slams played.

History of the ATP Canadian Open Men's Singles Tournament
The ATP Canadian Open has been running since 1881, when the Toronto Lawn Tennis Club held the first edition of what was then called the Canadian National Championships. The first edition was won by Canadian Isidore F. Hellmuth. Japanese player Seiichiro Kashio was the first from outside of North America to win the competition in 1919 after the break for World War I.
The men’s Canadian Championships have bounced around a number of different classifications on the tennis calendar. The Open Era began in 1968, and the Canadian Open would become part of the World Championship Tennis WCT circuit in 1971 and the Grand Prix circuit in 1972. It would become part of the ATP Tour Masters 1000 in 1990, where it remains today.
The Canadian Open has been tightly contested over the years, but we’ve picked out a few choice winners from across the years and their highlights:
Charles Smith Hyman (Won five Canadian National Championships - the joint most)
Rafael Nadal (Won five Canadian Opens - the joint most)
Novak Djokovic (Won four Canadian Opens as part of his 100 career titles, the most of any active player)
Roger Federer (Won two Canadian Opens on the path to 103 career titles, the second most in history)
Who is Playing in the ATP Canadian Open Men's Singles 2025?
Some of the biggest names will be descending onto Toronto this July, and we’ve picked out some to keep an eye on before the tournament starts:
Carlos Alcaraz
Alcaraz, the young Spaniard who is Nadal’s heir apparent, will feature highly in the tennis betting odds. He lost to Sinner in the 2025 Wimbledon Final, but beat the Italian at Roland Garros in the French Open. He will be looking for his first Canadian Open.
Alexander Zverev
Young German Zverev is another who lost to Sinner this year. He was the beaten finalist in the Australian Open and will be looking to add to his record of 24 career titles, which includes one Canadian Open.
Jack Draper
When Andy Murray retired, British tennis felt like it was at a crossroads. Its brightest young star is Jack Draper, who will want his first Canadian Open and to add to his three career titles. Having struggled in the Grand Slams, with a US Open semi-final his best performance, an ATP Tour win could be a big boost.
How to Bet on the Canadian Open & Tennis Bet Types
When you bet on tennis at Stake, there are so many options and markets open to you. Here, we’ve broken down the different bet types, including those specific to tennis and those that apply to other sports like soccer betting:
Correct Score: This is a form of set betting where you choose a match winner, as you would in moneyline betting, but you also have to guess just how many sets each player will claim in the match.
Handicap: With match handicap betting, you’re picking a player you think will win and giving their opposition a head start. This is good when there’s an out-and-out favourite and you want to lengthen their odds.
Total Games: Similar to the correct score betting, you will be choosing how many games you think will need to be played per set or in an overall match. This usually takes the form of an over/under bet.
