Introduction to the WTA Finals Betting
The WTA Tour is the premier schedule for women’s tennis, and the WTA Finals is the event that ends the year. It sits just behind the four Grand Slams in prestige and ranking points, with champions able to earn a maximum of 1,500.
When is the 2025 WTA Finals Tournament?
The Finals will kick off in Saudi Arabia on November 2 at the King Saud University Indoor Arena and will run all the way until November 9.
History of the WTA Finals Tournament
The WTA Finals has been a fixture on the WTA Tour since 1972, when it was the final event of the Virginia Slims Circuit. It has been known by a number of different names, including the WTA Tour Championships and the WTA Championships.
It has been hotly contested since its inception, with Martina Navratilova claiming eight singles titles and Steffi Graf and Serena Williams sitting behind on five. Coco Gauff is the most recent winner in 2024 and will be aiming for a repeat this year.
Who is Playing in the WTA Finals 2025?
The top eight players in the rankings have qualified for the tournament this year, and it's already set to be a great Finals. Here are the players heading to Saudi Arabia in November.
Aryna Sabalenka
Iga Swiatek
Coco Gauff
Amanda Anisimova
Madison Keys
Jessica Pegul
Jasmine Paolini
Elena Rybakina
Sabalenka is the top seed after she claimed four titles, the most on the 2025 tour. However, it was a year of shared Grand Slams, with Aryna claiming the US Open, Swiatek winning at Wimbledon, Keys taking home her first major at the Australian Open, and Gauff winning the French Open at Roland Garros.
Asimova was a losing finalist on two occasions, falling short at Wimbledon and the US Open, and one WTA 1000 win was enough to lift her to fourth seed. Of the remaining players in the top eight, only Paolini claimed a 1000 title.
Format and Schedule of the WTA Finals
This is a slightly different kind of tournament compared to others on the Tour. All eight players will be split into two groups of four. Each player will face the three others in her group in a round robin format.
Once the groups are over, the winner of each group will face the runner-up of the other in a straight knockout semifinal. The winners will then face each other in the final on November 9.
