Diego Lopes

Lopes is a huge fan favourite thanks to his all-action fighting style, which saw him win by 1st round finish in 3 out of his first 6 fights in the UFC. The Brazilian fighter, who lives and trains in Mexico, defeated Sodiq Yusuff, Dan Ige and Brian Ortega in 2024, earning a featherweight title shot against Alexander Volkanovski this year. Although he lost a unanimous decision in his first title fight, he gave Volkanovski a tough fight, winning a fight of the night bonus.

Jean Silva

Silva is another member of the Fighting Nerds team. He entered the promotion in 2024 and has so far won all 5 of his fights by stoppage. The last time he stepped into the octagon, Silva beat Bryce Mitchell in the 2nd round with a ninja choke, and he’d previously stopped Melsik Baghdasaryan, Drew Dober, Charles Jourdain and Westin Wilson. In 5 fights, he’s won 3 performance of the night bonuses and is now 16-2 in his professional career.

Rob Font

Rob Font is currently 9th in the UFC bantamweight rankings and is on a 2-fight win streak, having beaten Kyler Phillips and Jean Matsumoto in his last 2 fights. Before that, he’d lost 2 in a row to Cory Sandhagen and Deiveson Figueiredo. Overall, Font now has 12 wins and 7 losses in the UFC, with an overall record of 22-8 in professional MMA. He also has a 50% KO/TKO rate in the UFC, although his last KO win was against Adrian Yanez in 2023.

David Martinez

David Martinez is reportedly stepping in to replace Raul Rosas Jr., who dropped out due to injury. He only recently made his debut in the UFC, beating Saimon Oliveira by TKO in the 1st round. That fight took place in March and earned Martinez a performance of the night bonus. Since then, he had two cancelled bouts on this card, but will step in to take on Font at relatively short notice. His career record currently stands at 12-1.

Main Event

Although Lopes came up short in his first title shot, he gave a great performance and could still become champion one day if he continues to improve. His main issue is that he relies on his chin rather than utilising defence and head movement, which means he gets caught by a lot of shots. For this reason, he’s currently a significant betting underdog. However, Lopes has heavy hands and great forward pressure, which make him dangerous for anyone in the division.

Silva has looked like a future title challenger since he first arrived in the UFC, finishing every opponent he’s faced so far. His striking is fast and powerful, while he also has excellent grappling ability, which makes him dangerous standing and on the ground. However, although he’s now ranked in the top 10 of the featherweight division, Lopes will be the only fighter he’s faced who’s currently ranked.

Co-Main Event

Font has held onto his top 10 ranking despite having a fairly mixed record in recent fights. Although he won his last 2, he’d lost 4 out of 5 fights before that. Still, they were against some of the top-ranked fighters in the division: Figueiredo, Sandhagen, Aldo and Vera. Font was supposed to face Raul Rosas Jr., but will now face a fighter making only his 2nd appearance in the UFC.

Martinez has had just 1 fight in the UFC, so understandably, he’s the significant underdog according to the latest MMA odds. Although he’s shown a lot of talent and impressed in his debut, he’ll have to overcome a very experienced fighter to win. Still, his power and striking present a problem for any fighter in the division.
