Major Fighters in UFC Fight Night: Cannonier vs Borralho
Jared Cannonier
Jared “Killa Gorilla” Cannonier was once one of the most feared fighters in the UFC’s middleweight division thanks to his extremely heavy hands. Nine of his seventeen career wins have come by way of knockout or technical knockout, and after dropping down from light heavyweight, he went on a three-fight finishing streak. Despite recently beating Marvin Vetorri and former champion Sean Strickland, he lost to Imavov in his last fight.
Caio Borralho
Borralho arrived in the UFC through the Contender Series in 2022 and has since won all six of his fights in the promotion. He’s part of the Fighting Nerds camp, which has had massive success in the UFC over the past year. He’s now aiming for a top-ten division ranking and an improvement on his impressive 16-1 professional record. He has nine finishes in his career, with a mix of submission and KO wins.
Neil Magny
Magny has earned a reputation as one of the gatekeepers of the welterweight division. The “Haitian Sensation” is currently holding the number 12 ranking and has a decent 29-11 record. He’s a good test of whether or not an opponent is elite, as he only ever loses to top opposition such as Shavkat Rakmonov, Gilbert Burns, and Ian Garry.
Michael Morales
Morales is the next up-and-coming talent to be tested by Magny. This undefeated Ecuadorian fighter currently trains out of Mexico and has four wins in the UFC since entering through the Contender Series. His 16-0 record is impressive, although he hasn’t yet beaten any top opposition. This will be a real test, and a win would prove he belongs amongst the elite of the division.
Fight Card & Betting Odds
Main Event
Jared Cannonier vs Caio Borralho
At the age of 40, Cannonier is still performing well in a sport that is often dominated by younger fighters. Despite his most recent loss, he’s still ranked in the top five and is a very tough opponent for just about anyone in the division. Although he may not get another shot at the title, he may still upset the betting sites if he can defeat the young challenger in front of him.
Caio Borralho has had a meteoric rise through the UFC so far, defeating every opponent he’s faced and looking very impressive while doing so. This will certainly be his biggest test yet, though, as Cannonier has only ever lost to the very best. He’s the current favourite according to the UFC odds, but he’ll have to be cautious of Cannonier’s power.
Co-Main
Hill is also a veteran of her division and a fighter who has a lot of experience in the UFC. She had her first fight in the promotion at UFC 188 and has a 12-13 record in the UFC and an overall record of 17-13. Although she’s approaching 40 years old, she’s won her last two fights, and will hope to hold onto her spot in the rankings.
Meanwhile, Ricci entered the UFC in 2021 and has so far lost just two out of five. Despite her better record, she’s the slight underdog in this matchup, with the MMA odds favouring Hill to win. Still, it’s very close, and both fighters will do everything they can to get their hand raised.
