2025/26 La Liga Schedule & Format
Each season sees the top twenty sides in Spanish football going head to head over 38 games. Each team will play a home and away fixture against every other club in the league, earning three points for a win, one point for a draw, and none for a loss. The points are tallied up in La Liga’s table, and at the end of the season, the club with the most points is the champion of Spanish soccer.

Real Madrid - Real Madrid are the current favorites, having won 3 of the last 4 seasons. After finishing runners-up to their rivals last year, they’ve appointed a new coach, Xabi Alonso. The former Real Madrid midfielder won the German Bundesliga with Leverkusen and is highly rated. In addition, Real have some of the best talents in the league, with Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham all shining in attack. They’ve also bolstered their defense with the signings of Dean Huijsen and Trent Alexander Arnold from the Premier League.
FC Barcelona - Barcelona returned to winning ways under the leadership of Hansi Flick last season, securing their first La Liga title since the 2022/23 season. They’re currently second favorites according to the odds at the start of the season. So far, they’ve brought in a new goalkeeper, Joan Garcia from local rivals Espanyol. However, they still have issues registering new players, which could affect their chances to improve this season. Still, players like Raphinia and Lamine Yamal have shown they’re more than capable of firing Barça to another La Liga title.
Atlético Madrid - Atlético haven’t won La Liga since the 2020/21 season but are often fighting for the title. Last season, they finished 3rd, and they’re once again the 3rd favorites to win the championship in 2025/26. They’ve made several key signings to improve their squad, including Álex Baena and Johnny Cardoso. Meanwhile, players like Julián Alvarez and captain Koke will play an important role in their title challenge.
