The first official MLBB Esports tournament was the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup in 2017. In 2022, the Cup also accepted teams from the Middle East and North Africa region.
In 2018, the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) was established by Moonton as a series of official regional tournaments. Also known as the M-Series or Worlds, this annual tournament decides the world champion of MLBB.
In 2022, the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Women’s Invitational was formed as an official all-female world championship, and in 2024, the Southeast Asia Cup was rebranded as the MLBB Mid-Season Cup (MSC).
