UFC 319: Du Plessis vs. Chimaev Betting Odds, Tips & Live Stream MMA

This summer, the long-awaited middleweight title fight between current champion Dricus du Plessis and undefeated contender Khamzat Chimaev will take place. UFC 319 will feature some of the biggest names in the sport, and you can bet on all the UFC fights and watch them live right here at Stake Sportsbook.

When & Where is UFC 319: Du Plessis vs. Chimaev?

This upcoming PPV event will take place at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, United States. It’s scheduled for August 16.

Major Fighters in UFC 319: Du Plessis vs. Chimaev

Dricus Du Plessis

Former KSW champion Dricus Du Plessis is currently undefeated in the UFC. He won 6 fights on the way to his first title fight against Sean Strickland, which included 5 stoppages. He won the middleweight belt in a close split decision against Strickland, before submitting former champion Adesanya and securing a unanimous decision against Strickland in the rematch. His professional record is now 23-2, and 48% of his wins have come by submission, while 39% have been by KO/TKO.

Khamzat Chimaev

Chimaev had a blistering start to his UFC career, winning his first 3 fights by stoppage, all within 3 months. However, his activity level dropped off due to health and injury issues, even if he kept winning fights. He’s now 14-0 in his professional MMA career, with 8 wins in the UFC. Chimaev has a high finish rate too, with 43% of his wins by KO/TKO and 43% by submission. He submitted Li Jingliang, Kevin Holland and Robert Whittaker, all in the first round.

Tim Elliot

Flyweight veteran fighter Tim Elliot has a professional MMA record of 20-13-1 with 9 wins and 11 defeats in the UFC. In his last 5 fights, he has 3 wins and 2 losses, and he’s currently ranked 11th in the division. It’s fair to say that most of his losses are against top opponents, including former champions Demetrious Johnson and Deiveson Figueiredo. In his last fight, Elliot got an impressive round 1 arm triangle choke, winning the performance of the night bonus.

Kai Asakura

Asakura made his UFC debut in his last fight, against the current UFC flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja. While it’s very rare for debuting fighters to fight for the title, Asakura was the Rizin bantamweight champion after winning the title in his previous fight. That loss brought his overall record to 21-5, with an impressive 62% of his wins coming by way of KO/TKO. Although he’s now 0-1 in the UFC, he can still be a ranked fighter based on his previous performances.

Fight Card & Betting Odds

Main Event

  • Dricus Du Plessis vs Khamzat Chimaev

Although his fighting can look unorthodox at times, Dricus Du Plessis has impressed every time he’s set foot inside the cage. He’s now undefeated in his UFC run, with 9 wins out of 9 and 6 stoppages. His first fight against Sean Strickland was closed, but he made the necessary adjustments in the rematch to win relatively comfortably, submitting the former dominant champ Israel Adesanya in between. Despite this, he’s the MMA odds underdog for UFC 319, as he’s facing a challenger who has long been considered the uncrowned champion of the middleweight division.

Khamzat Chimaev was one of the most talked-about fighters when he first arrived in the UFC back in 2020. He dramatically finished his first 3 opponents, fighting his 2nd opponent just 10 days after his debut. However, injury issues and health scares have meant he’s been less active. Still, he has looked like an unstoppable force in the middleweight division, backing up his threats of smashing everybody.

The grappling and strength of Chimaev are his two biggest weapons, although Dricus Du Plessis is also freakishly strong. There are some questions about the cardio of Chimaev, as he’s visibly slowed down after the first round in each of his fights, and as a title fight, 5 rounds will be scheduled. Some worry that he may also pull out due to injury, in which case, Nassourdine Imavov will step in to take his place.

Rest of the Card

  • Tim Elliot vs Kai Asakura

  • Karine Silva vs JJ Aldrich

  • Alexander Hernandez vs Chase Hooper

  • Nursulton Ruziboev vs Bryan Battle
