UFC 310: Pantoja vs Asakura Betting Odds, Tips & Live Stream MMA

UFC 310 was originally scheduled to feature a welterweight title fight between current champion Belal Muhammad and Shavkat Rakhmonov. Belal has pulled out due to a serious bone infection. As it stands, the main event will be the flyweight title fight between champion Alexandre Pantoja and former two-time Rizin bantamweight champion Kai Asakura. UFC 310 is scheduled for Sunday 8th of December, with the event getting underway at 4 pm NZST. It will be held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Alexandre Pantoja

Stake ambassador Alexandre Pantoja is on an impressive run in the flyweight division right now, winning his last six fights, including two title defences, two performance of the night bonuses and a fight of the night bonus. He’s an incredibly exciting MMA fighter who has become known for his durability and heart, and although he won the title by split decision, he’s always looked difficult to beat. In the lead up to the big fight, we spoke exclusively to Pantoja, who shared his thoughts as he looks to defend his flyweight title against Asakura.

Kai Asakura

Kai Asakura is making his debut in the UFC for this fight, the first time a debuting fighter has fought for the title since 2014. The Rizin star, who has previously won the Rizin bantamweight belt on two separate occasions, will relish the challenge. He has a 21-4 record, including 13 wins and 4 defeats in Rizin. Asakura won his last two fights by stopping his opponent with knees to the body.

Ciryl Gane

Since losing to Jon Jones in their fight for the vacant heavyweight title back in March 2023, Gane has had a single fight, beating Serghei Spivac by TKO in round 2. That fight happened more than a year ago, with Gane taking time off to train and act in a new Netflix series. He has a 12-2 record, only losing fights against Ngannou and Jones. His finishing rate is excellent, with 50% of his wins coming by way of KO/TKO.

Alexander Volkov

Volkov is currently on an impressive four-fight win streak in the heavyweight division, including his most recent unanimous decision victory over Pavlovich. Not many people gave him a chance against his fellow Russian fighter, but he put on an immaculate display after stoppage wins over Tuivasa, Romanov and Rozenstruik. Volkov now holds a 38-10 record, with just four losses in the UFC, all against top opposition.

Main Event

The main event for UFC 310 was originally going to be a welterweight title fight between Belal Muhammad and Shavkat Rakhmonov. That was cancelled due to Belal’s injury, and the co-main has been moved up to the main event. Now, Pantoja will face UFC newcomer Asakura.

The MMA odds have Pantoja as the favourite, which isn’t surprising considering this will be Asakura’s first fight in the UFC. Although Asakura was the Rizin champion, he’s previously lost to Kape, who Pantoja had a convincing win over. Although there have been four previous instances of fighters competing for the title in their UFC debut, none have ever managed to capture the belt. The odds are stacked against betting underdog Asakura despite his talent.

Co-Main Event

Gane is coming off the back of an impressive win, but it’s hard not to think of how easily he crumbled in his title fight against Jon Jones. He was taken down and submitted with very little resistance, which will give his opponents confidence when game planning for him. Gane excels in striking but clearly needs to work on his ground game.

As Volkov doesn’t have much of a reputation for wrestling, he’s the underdog according to the UFC odds. However, his striking abilities may be underrated. Gane had a tough time with Tuivasa, and Volkov could definitely give him issues if he can’t get into range effectively. Volkov will look to keep his distance and utilise his jabs in a similar way to how he beat Pavlovich.
