F1 2026 Rule Changes & Updates
The new 2026 F1 season brings new changes, which are focused on making the sport more sustainable and exciting to watch. Some of the key updates include:
Hybrid power - F1 cars previously needed to use an 80/20 split between power from the combustion engine and electric boost. This season, this has changed to 50/50. The electrical energy recovery system will also provide more power.
No DRS - Perhaps the biggest change, and one that’s welcomed by many fans, is the elimination of the Drag Reduction System. This has been replaced by the manual Override Mode, which provides an engine boost when within 1 second of another car. As a result, there should be more overtaking opportunities, especially for teams that manage power effectively during a race.
Smaller cars - Cars will be slightly shorter and narrower while also weighing 30kg less. This will mean they’re more agile, while downforce is reduced. However, cars will have active aerodynamics, allowing teams to adjust drag and downforce depending on their position on the circuit. X mode will flatten the wings for low drag over high-speed straights, while Z mode will angle the wings for more downforce and grip during turns.
New circuit - The Spanish Grand Prix has been moved from the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya to a new street circuit in Madrid. Meanwhile, the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will now host the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix.

Constructor head-to-head: These work in the same way, allowing you to bet on which constructor will finish with more points in the race for the Constructors’ Championship.
Top-scoring rookie: Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher have previously won the top-scoring rookie prize. This is a great bet to place on newcomers to the F1 circuit and allows you to invest in the progress of a fledgling racer.

Formula 1 Betting Tips & Strategies
Always consider the conditions ahead of a Formula 1 race. Weather such as rain or high temperatures will affect the tyres used, team strategy and driver performance.
The current form of a driver significantly impacts how well they’re likely to do in an upcoming race, so be sure to check how they’re currently driving before backing them.
Pay attention to qualifying and practice sessions. Qualifying determines where drivers start on the grid. Overtaking should be more common during the 2026 season, but having pole position will still be an advantage.
It’s also helpful to look at how drivers typically perform at each race track. Some drivers have a great record at specific venues, so review their previous performances.
