Lionel Messi has been voted the Greatest South American player Of All Time in a survey of more than 1,000 football fans from the continent.
And close friend Sergio Aguero believes Messi’s talent is such that, if Inter Miami were to play in the Premier League, they would WIN the competition.
On the eve of the Copa America, which is taking place in North America, Aguero welcomed Messi and his Argentina teammates to Miami with a herd of goats. Laying down the gauntlet to opposing nations this Copa America, Agüero’s message that ‘The GOAT’s Have Arrived’, aims to place this current Argentina crop amongst the best ever.
And Messi is certainly recognised as such in South America, collecting 36% of the vote to beat off competition from Pele and Ronaldinho.

The survey, conducted by us right here on Stake.com, in conjunction with market research firm Censuswide, saw Messi top the polls ahead of Brazil stars Pele and Ronaldinho, whilst Diego Maradona could only collect fourth spot.
Ronaldo and Neymar also made the list, with Zico and Thiago Silva also representing the Seleção. Former Argentina captain and defender Daniel Passarella was the only other non-Brazilian player to make the list.
Such is Messi’s aura, close friend Aguero believes the former Barcelona and PSG star could carry current side Inter Miami in the Premier League. In fact, he believes they could even win the division, if they were to play in England.
“I think they would win the league. They have Messi that is the GOAT, and with him, even winning the Premier is possible.”
