Josh Emmett vs Ilia Topuria

We’ve got a classic undefeated contender vs experienced veteran kind of a main event which is always intriguing to watch.

Alexander Volkanovski has been dominant in his efforts as the 145-pound king, but the emergence of hungry contenders has made this one of the best divisions in the UFC.

Josh Emmett has been one of the most underrated names in the division who has let his fighting speak for itself.

Emmett has had an exciting 12-fight UFC stint having beaten notable contenders like Calvin Kattar, Shane Burgos, and Michael Johnson while competing for interim gold.

The ranked 5 Featherweight is a skilled wrestler with lethal knockout power which has made him the man with the most knockdowns in the division.

Emmett will look to make a statement this week to enter the title picture again, but he’s got a tough matchup against the undefeated Ilia “El Matador” Topuria.

Every division needs an undefeated contender to keep the mystery alive and the Featherweight division has Topuria.

Topuria has earned himself a main event spot with an impressive 5 fight win streak with 4 finishes beating names like Bryce Mitchell and Ryan Hall.

He is a competent wrestler, power puncher, and tactical Jiu-jitsu artist which has convinced many that he will hold the UFC belt one day.

This fight is going to be explosive as both men are power punchers with good wrestling, and it will be interesting to see if Topuria can maintain his undefeated record or not.

Best Bets

Our first bet this week comes on the prelims in a fun fight between Jamall Emmers and Jack Jenkins.

Emmers has been a hit or miss in the UFC with a 2-3 record in the promotion.

Whereas, Jenkins is riding the wave of the Aussie fighters having won his last 8 fights including 2 UFC bouts.

We think Jenkins is very well-rounded and provides great value at these odds.

Our next bet is on the Women's Strawweight bout between Tabatha Ricci and Gillian Robertson.

Robertson is a great Jiu-Jitsu artist but very one-dimensional in her approach to fights.

She is facing Tabatha who is a black belt herself and we think this will nullify Gillian's advantage on the ground.

We like the value on Tabatha Ricci who is the better striker and has looked impressive in her 3-fight win streak.

Our final pick this weekend comes on our main event between Josh Emmett and Ilia Topuria.

This fight is set up for Topuria to break into the top 5 but Josh Emmett will be no walk in the park.

Topuria will hold advantages on the ground but has never faced a top 5 opponent, so we don't think him being that big of a favourite is justified.

Given that this is his first top name, we think Emmett has decent wrestling and boxing which he can lean on to extend this fight beyond 12 and a half minutes at near 3/1 odds which is our pick this weekend.
