What is Marvel Rivals?
Marvel Rivals is a hero shooter video game similar to Overwatch 2, Valorant and Apex Legends. However, while these are predominantly first-person shooter (FPS) games, Marvel Rivals is a third-person shooter, meaning the camera is positioned above the character's shoulder.

History of Competitive Marvel Rivals Esports
Marvel Rivals was developed and published by NetEase Games in collaboration with Marvel Games and released in 2024. As of February 2025, it reached over 40 million players, and its growth has been supported by a competitive Esports scene.
Since the game’s launch, NetEase has organised multiple Marvel Rivals tournaments, including both open and invitation-only events. In 2025, the first Marvel Rivals Ignite Mid-Season Finals took place in Guangzhou, and the first-ever Ignite Grand Finals event is scheduled to start in Atlanta in October 2025.
Other planned events for Marvel Rivals include the Marvel Rivals Invitational, which will feature the best Esports teams, and the Marvel Rivals Championship, which will be open to all players.
