Men's Ashes Betting Odds & Fixtures - Bet on The Ashes Cricket Matches with Best Odds
The Ashes, to many, is the pinnacle of cricket. Despite only featuring two international cricket teams, it conjures up some of the most thrilling action. While the Cricket World Cup might definitively name the world’s best team, The Ashes Series is an unofficial cricket world champ decider.
We’ll take a look at the 2025-26 Ashes progress, who’s on top, and how to bet on the remaining game right here at Stake Sportsbook.
What are The Ashes?
The Ashes is one of the most prestigious Test cricket series in the world. It is a five-Test series played every two years by England and Australia. The games usually get underway late in the year, around November, continuing through to the end of December or into January.
The host country alternates every edition between England and Australia. For both teams, it represents the chance to beat their greatest rivals in the sport, making it a highly competitive affair, and one often fraught with drama and controversy.
History of The Ashes
The Ashes dates back to the late 19th Century, when a British newspaper jokingly declared that English cricket had died and its body was to be cremated and “the ashes taken to Australia”. This was after Australia’s first Test win in England in 1882.
This caught the attention of fans and players alike, with Ivo Bligh, the England captain, declaring he would “reclaim those ashes” (not yet The Ashes) when his team travelled to Australia for a series in 1882-83. When they did win the series, they were presented with a commemorative urn, purported to be filled with the ashes of a cricket bail.
It has become the showpiece of English and Australian cricket, with fans and players waiting for their turn to take hold of the urn and, in turn, the bragging rights. Australia is the most successful of the two, sitting on 35, with England just behind on 32. The Aussies’ figure also includes this series, which they claimed by winning the first three Tests of the series.
Format & Schedule of 2025-26 Men's Ashes
The 2025-26 Men’s Ashes got underway with the first Test on November 21, 2025, with Australia this edition’s host. Four matches have been played, with the Baggy Greens racing into an insurmountable 3-0 lead. This is how those matches looked, with the team that elected to bat first appearing first:
Australia Win by 8 Wickets - England 172 (32.5 Overs) v Australia 132 (45.2 Overs) - 21-22 November, Perth Stadium
Australia Win by 8 Wickets - England 334 (76.2 Overs) v Australia 511 (117.3 Overs) - 4-7 December, The Gabba
Australia Win by 82 Runs - Australia 371 (91.2 Overs) v England 286 (87.2 Overs) - 17-21 December, Adelaide Oval
England Win by 4 Wickets - Australia 152 (45.2 Overs) v England 110 (29.5 Overs) - 26-27 December, Melbourne Cricket Club
There is still one test to be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground, and it is scheduled to take place between January 4 - 8. While the series has already been decided, World Test Championship points are still up for grabs, and England will want to leave Australia with their heads held high.

If you are new to placing bets on cricket, you can check out our guide to online sportsbooks before learning how to bet on cricket, including info on the laws and regulations of the game. You might even find that you come across some of these popular cricket bets:
Moneyline (Head-to-Head)/Winner (Inc. Super Over): Moneyline betting refers to choosing one winner for individual Test matches. You can also select an Outright or Futures winner before a competition is decided; this is your prediction for who will win the series or tournament.
Team with Top Batter/Bowler: This is exactly what it says on the tin. Who will come out on top in either category? For example, Mitchell Starc has dominated the series wickets chart as Top Bowler, while Travis Head leads the way in runs for Top Batsman.
Total Sixes: This is an Over/Under bet, where you are predicting how many sixes will occur in a match. You will select a specific number - something like 7.5 - and guess whether you think the final number of sixes will be more (Over) or less (Under).
The Ashes Betting Tips, Predictions & Cricket Betting Strategies
The 2025-26 edition of The Ashes may be coming to a close, but that doesn’t mean you can’t learn some tips and tricks to use as part of your future cricket betting approach. We’ve listed our tips and tricks for you:
Know form: Keeping up with the action is a good way of being ahead of the cricket tipsters. Is Ben Stokes struggling to take wickets on the pre-series Tour? Has Joe Root’s batting been exceptional? Knowing who is in form can help you make better bets.
Diversify: Consider different markets than simple moneyline or outrights bets. For example, spread betting markets might be good in situations where you believe an outcome could fall within a range, rather than having confidence in one specific number.
Strategise: Using sports betting bankroll management strategies is a good way to keep on top of your funds and aim for a successful betting portfolio. In our Stake blogs, you can find information on all kinds of strategies, including the sport-specific Kelly Criterion and the more general Paroli system.
