What is the MLB All-Star Baseball?

History of the MLB All-Star Game
The very first All-Star MLB game was held in 1933 in Comiskey Park, Chicago, as part of the 1933 World’s Fair. It was set up by the sports editor of the Chicago Tribune, and although it was initially intended to be a one-off event, it was hugely successful. As a result, baseball executives agreed to hold the All-Star game every year.
In order to increase the player pension fund, two All-Star games were held each season between 1959 and 1962. However, team owners eventually agreed to give the players a larger share of income from a single game.
Han Aaron holds the record for the most All-Star games at 25, while Willie Mays, Steve Garvey, Gary Carter, Cal Ripken Jr., and Mike Trout all hold the record for the most All-Star MVP awards at 2. Meanwhile, Stan Musial has the most All-Star home runs at 6, while Don Drysdale has the record for the most All-Star game strikeouts at 19.
MLB Division & Leagues
The MLB is the highest level of baseball in the US and consists of the American League and the National League, which both feature East, Central and West divisions. Each division contains 5 teams.
The All-Star selections are made within the American League and National League, so the game is always contested between the best players from each league.
Currently, the American League has the most wins, with a 48-44-2 record, although they’ve only scored 8 more runs. Meanwhile, the National League holds the longest winning streak, with an 11-game streak between 1972 and 1982.
The American League won 12 out of the first 16. Although the National League had a period between 1962 and 1982 where they won 19 out of 20, the American League has dominated since 1988, going 28-7-1 and in 2018.
Since 1938, the New York Yankees have held the record for the most players selected for the MLB All-Star Game. 10 players were selected from the NY Yankees, a record which has yet to be broken.
