NFL Pro Bowl Betting Odds & Lines - Bet on 2025 American Football Online

As the curtain closes on another year of football, the 2024-25 NFL season is gearing up for its biggest few months. With the playoffs and February’s Super Bowl on the horizon, it shouldn’t be overlooked that there’s also the NFL Pro Bowl to come.

Here at Stake Sportsbook, NFL betting is our bread and butter, so what exactly is the NFL Pro Bowl and how can you bet on it?

What is the NFL Pro Bowl?

The NFL Pro Bowl is a fixture on the American football calendar that celebrates some of the finest of the current crop of players in the game. Much like in other major North American sports and their leagues, including the NBA, MLB, NHL, and MLS, the NFL hosts an All-Star game to give fans a chance to see the best of the best duke it out on the field. It pits the top talents from the AFC against the NFC to crown the best conference.

While many of the biggest names in the sport, such as the youngest ever Pro Bowler - the name given to those selected - to start a game at quarterback in the 2020 edition, Lamar Jackson, will feature, the importance of the Super Bowl means that anyone competing in the championship game will often not play in the Pro Bowl. However, the 2024 games did see Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs take his place at tight end, proving that there’s room for serious star power.

Any newcomers to the NFL need to know that the current format of the games is very different to what they might expect from an All-Star fixture. Despite being a celebration of the best players from the regular season, to minimise injuries to players, the football part of the day is a non-contact game. On top of that, there are several different events held to determine if the AFC Championship is king or if the NFC can dominate.

History of the NFL Pro Bowl

The US has a long and storied history of All-Star games in its major leagues. The Pro Bowl has its own particularly winding history, too. The very first NFL exhibition match was hosted all the way back in 1939 at Wrigley Field, a venue synonymous with baseball and not American football. Subsequently, it was played annually until World War II saw it put on hold in 1943.

It took until 1950 for something to take its place. This was when the Pro Bowl moniker was born and saw representative sides for the two conferences taking to the field. Prior to this, it had been the championship team against an All-Star roster. Since then, it has become something of a staple of the American football calendar.

Now, more than 70 years on from its rebirth, the Pro Bowl sits as the curtain raiser on the biggest couple of weeks in the football season and has been held at venues like Caesars Superdome and Sun Life Stadium. It is now competed across the first weekend of February, acting as the opening act for Super Bowl weekend. Since 2023, it has introduced other feats of endurance and even eSports competitions alongside its flag football showpiece.

Who is Competing in the NFL Pro Bowl 2025?

The Pro Bowl 2025 will see another AFC versus NFC contest but all eyes will be on who will take to the field for either conference. In terms of who you can expect to see taking to the field and pitting themselves against each other in a number of skills games, the Detroit Lions is the team with the players receiving the most public votes.

In 2023, 9 players from the San Francisco 49ers were picked and we’ll likely see some more San Fran representation again this year. Kansas City’s Andy Reid will be expecting to see his star man Lamar Jackson make an appearance after raking in the public vote, too.

We could also see a debut for Green Bay Packers man Jordan Love after improving on an already impressive 2023 season. However, multi-Pro Bowl appearance maker Kirk Cousins looks set to miss out after a disappointing end to the regular season.

NFL Pro Bowl 2025 Schedule

The NFL Pro Bowl will be kicking off February football for 2025, interestingly, in January. The first events will begin on the final Thursday of January before the main event touches down on the following Sunday, the first Sunday of February.

  • December 23: Public voting is closed

  • January 30: First events - Thursday Skills Showdown

  • February 2: Pro Bowl flag football game
