What is Major League Cricket?
Cricket is gaining popularity in the US, with the 2024 T20 World Cup held here. The Major League Cricket, better known simply as MLC, is a Twenty20 cricket league in the US. The tournament features teams from across the country, with games held in Oakland, California, Grand Prairie, Texas, and Lauerhill, Florida.
The league was founded in 2018, and the first edition of the competition was held in 2023. It’s organised by American Cricket Enterprises and USA Cricket, with the intention of helping the sport grow in the US
6 teams play in the 2025 MLC, which compete in a 30-match league phase. The top 4 teams in the league will then progress to the play-offs to determine the champion. The teams are each owned by the American Cricket Enterprises and are assigned investor-operators. Squads are assembled during the draft, which takes place each year before the season begins.
Major League Cricket 2025 Format & Schedule
The 2025 Major League Cricket season was expanded from 19 games to 34, with the season running between mid-June and July to avoid other T20 leagues such as The Hundred.
The league phase follows a double round-robin format, where each of the 6 teams plays each opponent twice. Teams earn 2 points per win, and the top 4 teams progress to the playoffs.
In the playoffs, the top 2 teams from the league phase go into the qualifier, while the 3rd and 4th place teams play in an eliminator. The loser of the qualifier then plays the winner of the eliminator, and the winner of this match plays against the winner of the qualifier in the Final.

Who Will Win MLC 2025?
Washington Freedom are the current favourites to win the MLC 2025 season and retain their title. They’ve only lost 1 match so far this season, and look set to progress to the playoffs at a minimum.
Meanwhile, the San Francisco Unicorns and Texas Super Kings are ranked 2nd and 3rd favourites, respectively. The San Francisco Unicorns were beaten in the 2024 final and currently have a Net Run Rate much higher than any other team. The Texas Super Kings have the advantage of batsman Faf du Plessis, who has scored the most runs in the MLC.
