What is Dota 2's DreamLeague Tournament?
The DreamLeague is a major Dota 2 tournament that is part of the ESL Pro Tour (EPT). Teams from all over the world can take part in the event, either by invitation based on recent performances or by progressing through regional qualifiers. There’s a $1 million prize pool to be won, with the championship-winning team claiming $250,000 in prize money, along with $40,000 in club prize money.
By taking part in the DreamLeague, Esports teams also earn EPT points, which are used for rankings and invitations for future tournaments.
Format & Structure
Qualifiers
Open qualifiers took place between September 20-23, while closed qualifiers took place between September 24-26. Based on their performance, top teams received an invitation to the DreamLeague Season 27. However, lower-ranked teams can also earn the right to play in Season 1 or 2 of DreamLeague Division 2. The top 4 teams from Season 1 of Division 2 and the top team from Season 2 will qualify for the group stage of Season 27.
Group Stage
24 teams enter the group stage of ESL DreamLeague Season 27. This is a Swiss group, with six rounds of matches played to the best of 3 games. At the end of the 6 rounds, the top 8 teams will advance to the playoffs.
Playoffs
The playoffs stage features 8 teams competing in a double-elimination bracket. All matches except the Grand Final are best-of-3. The Grand Final is a best-of-5 series.

Xtreme Gaming - Xtreme Gaming finished 2nd at The International 2025, narrowly losing out to Team Falcons, despite being the only team to win every game in the group stage.
PARIVISION - They achieved a 3rd place finish at The International 2025, initially going 3-2 in the group stage before winning their elimination round and beating Xtreme Gaming in the upper bracket semifinals. However, after losing to Team Falcons, they were this time beaten by Xtreme Gaming when they met them in the lower bracket final.
BetBoom Team - BetBoom Team had an excellent start to The International 2025, initially going 4-1 in the group stage. However, they were beaten by Team Falcons and Xtreme Gaming to end up in 4th place.
Current Meta Picks
The current meta in Dota 2 focuses on flex picks, which are heroes that can be played effectively in multiple roles or lane positions. This not only creates uncertainty for the opposing team, but it also means that the team can be more adaptable in the strategies they use.
